Adam Arreola is a graduate of the Entrepreneurship program at Loyola Marymount University. He and his company ColorGuard Armor recently had their patent approved for an STD detecting condom, which he started conceptualizing in 2012. The device detects a range of sexually transmitted diseases such as Zika, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. If an STD is present, it alerts users by the condom’s control bands changing color, signaling a positive or negative result for each user. The super condom provides protection against STDs and also serves as a field test for the early detection of sexually transmitted diseases.
To young people, Adam says:"ColorGuard Armor’s STD detecting condom helps prevent pregnancy, and it also helps prevent the spread of STDs as well. What's not to like?”
Adam hopes that his invention will encourage young adults to talk about these topics that sometimes are difficult to discuss. After several years of hard work and persistence, on February 12, 2016, Adam Arreola filed a patent for his invention. He finally had it approved by the United States Patent Office in March 2021.
Adam invented ColorGuard’s STD detecting condom to help prevent the spread of STDs. If an STD is detected in a person, he hopes that they get immediate treatment, and take the necessary precautions to prevent contaminating others.
When the patent is approved, Adam wants to license the patent to a major company. Adam further stated,
"I believe that you can become a successful entrepreneur and help people at the same time. That's my goal."
